Side Effects

Potential side effects of Radixact® treatment for head and neck cancers

Most radiation side effects are minimal and last only a short time. Side effects can, however, be severe. Possible side effects could include, but are not limited to:

  • Dry mouth
  • Nausea
  • Skin irritation
  • Headache
  • Mouth and gum sores
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Stiffness in the jaw
  • Tooth decay
  • Difficulty eating

Managing side effects with your medical team

Prior to beginning Radixact treatment, your medical team will discuss all possible side effects and may prescribe medication to control any side effects, should they occur.

While all radiotherapy treatments carry the risk of side effects, Radixact treatments are generally well tolerated with minimal side effects. The Radixact System allows your treatment team to optimize the radiation dose delivered to the target — while minimizing dose to the many delicate and critical structures of the head and neck. Radixact treatments are designed to reduce side effects and enable patients to return to their daily routines with minimal interruption to their normal activities during or following their treatment.
